Students from Metallurgical & Materials Science Engineering at Indus University participated in Behind the Teacher’s Desk (BTTD) symposium held in Jamshedpur by National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) from 22-23rd June’17.  Students from the department presented papers and won prizes namely Ms. Sagarika Bhattacharya and Mr. Harsh Sojitra won second prize for presenting a paper on ‘Review of Hydrometallurgical Route for Tungsten Carbide Scrap Utilization’,  Mr.Vishwaraj Sarvaiya won second prize for presenting a paper on ‘Design  and Fabrication of Die for Equal Channel Angular Extrusion of Aluminium and Copper Alloys’, Mr. Darshan Ahra won second prize for presenting a paper on ‘Characterization of Oxide Scale Formed on Water/Steam Side of Boiler Tubes Inside Thermal Power Plant’, Mr. Darshan Ahra, Mr. Mohammed Junaid, and Mr. Jay Suthar were the winners of Cycle of Development: Innovation, Technology, and Entrepreneurship, under the sub-category called Energy Efficiency.  One of the students Mr. Jigish Lakhani was interviewed and covered in The Telegraph.  This symposium was jointly organized by National Metallurgical Laboratory, Tata Steel, and Indian Institute of Metal in Jamshedpur.  All the participants were thrilled with their creative effort at National level and the department extended gratitude for having brought laurels to the university.
