Dr Nagesh Bhandari, President, Indus University, is a Doctor by profession specialised in Spine Surgery from the globally acclaimed Spine Centre ‘Rehabilitations Krankenhaus’, Germany under the guidance of Prof J. Harms, the world famous Spine Surgeon. He has had the distinction of working with some world renowned spine surgeons such as Dr C S Ranawat, USA, Dr Peter Fowler, Canada, Dr H W Pia, Germany, Prof B G Weber, Switzerland, Prof M Michon, France to cite a few. He has been a visiting spine surgeon to several leading hospitals in Ahmedabad and Indoor and has several firsts in innovating the issues related to complex spine surgeries. He is the proud author of quality research contributions to National and International Conferences and Journals and has chaired several co-curricular activities related to his specialised field on numerous occasions.
He has been the recipient of a Gold Medal for best Poster Presentation during the 46th Annual Conference of Indian Orthopaedic Association held in Ahmedabad during 2001. He has significantly contributed to the development of indigenous and novel spinal instrumentation systems, thus contributing to the cost effective treatment procedures in his chosen field. He has been apart from involving in Charitable and Philanthropic activities through Bhandari Charitable trust, has also been a trustee at Sanskardham developed on traditional Indian Schooling system and is the Director of Ahmedabad Aviation Aeronautics Ltd and Western Institute of Aeronautics at Ahmedabad.
Major General Dr S S Dasaka, SM, VSM, (Retd.), Executive President
Major General Dr. S S Dasaka, SM, VSM, (Retd.), had a very illustrious career and has achieved great distinction in his past assignments. He has considerable experience in the academic field, having been the Vice Chancellor, Baddi University of Emerging Sciences & Technology, Baddi, Himachal Pradesh; Director, Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology, Gangtok; Chief Executive Officer, Vignana Jyothi Group of Institutions, Hyderabad and Chief Executive Officer, J. B. Group of Educational Institutions, Hyderabad. While in the Army, he taught in the College of Military Engineering, Pune and College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. He also served in the Army Training Command, Shimla.
In his earlier avatar, General Dasaka served for 35 years in the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army. He served the nation in a wide range of appointments covering troops, technical, logistics and administrative areas. He retired as Major General-Operational Logistics, Headquarters Eastern Command, Kolkata where, in addition to operational logistics support to over 2,00,000 troops, he was also responsible for planning, finalising and initiating a wide range of civil engineering and infrastructure development works of about Rs. 7,000 crores for the eight Eastern States. He has been Chief Engineer, Project Beacon of Border Roads Organisation at Srinagar in J & K, which maintains all the major road lifelines of the State including the strategic Jammu-Srinagar NH-1A, under extreme insurgency and weather conditions.
He also served as Group Head (Works) in a DRDO Laboratory at Hyderabad. He commanded a specialist bridging Engineer Regiment, amongst various other assignments in the Army. He was also Head of Faculty of Strategic Studies, Research & Consultancy at the College of Defence Management, Secunderabad. Before joining the Army, he had experience with corporates, having worked with Gammon India and Bharat Gold Mines Ltd, Kolar Gold Fields, Karnataka.
Dr. Dasaka had a distinguished academic record. He holds a Ph.D. (Business Management) and Master of Management Studies degrees - both from Osmania University; M.E. (Engineering Construction & Management) from Pune University; M.E. (Structural Engineering) from University of Roorkee (now IIT) and B.E. (Civil Engineering) from Andhra University, where he was awarded the U.G.K Rao Memorial Prize for standing First in the final year B.E degree examination of all branches of engineering in the University.
In addition to the above, General Dasaka has M.Phil. (Defence and Strategic Studies) and M.Sc. (Defence Studies) degrees from Madras University and has done Junior Diploma in Russian Language and Literature from Andhra University. He has also attended the prestigious year-long National Defence College course, New Delhi, which is also attended by senior officers of Army, Navy, Air Force, IAS, IPS, IFS, Central Allied Services and officers from foreign defence forces.
In acknowledgement of his distinguished service during his Army career, he has been conferred with the Vishisht Seva Medal (VSM) in 2012 and Sena Medal (SM) in 2007 by H.E. President of India. He was also awarded with commendation cards by the Army Commanders of Eastern and Western Commands. He is also the recipient of the Competition Success Review and Global HRDC's, Eminent Directors of Leading Institutes of India Award for two consecutive years in 2012 and 2013. He is an Academician - Soldier - Engineer - Manager.
His areas of interests include education management, infrastructure management, project management, construction management, logistics management, HR management and disaster management.
Dr S B Sharma, Vice President
A visionary of extraordinary caliber, Dr. S. B. Sharma has many milestones to his credit among which the most notable are; his long and luminous tenure as Outstanding Scientist at ISRO and his role as Deputy Director, Antenna Systems Area (ASA) at ISRO in leading and guiding antenna related R&D for Satellite Communication and Microwave Remote Sensing Programs and his present leadership as Vice President bringing an unique perspective to Indus University.
He is a rare blend of fundamental researcher with sound understanding of the advanced electromagnetic modeling techniques and innovative hardware engineer having 43 years of diversified research, academic and teaching experience. Evidence of his research contribution is publication of more than150 papers in refereed journals and conferences. Publications of many other research activities highly original in nature were kept in abeyance because of filling of 24 international patents by him as prime inventor. Dr. Sharma contributed significantly through his unique perspective and expertise to the design and development of variety of space borne, air borne, and ground station antenna systems. His most important scientific / technical contributions are related with the Satellite Payloads for Microwave Remote Sensing and Satellite Communication Programs of ISRO. His other notable achievements include design, development, installation and commissioning of large number of telemetry, tracking and tele-command antenna systems for satellite launch vehicles (SLV, ASLV, PSLV), orbiting remote sensing satellites (IRS) and earth station antenna systems for geostationary communication satellites.
Mr P J Maniar, Joint Registrar
Paresh J Maniar is Science Graduate from Bombay University before receiving his PGDBA from Saurashtra University. He has been involved in Administration and Marketing the activities of Professional Educational and Healthcare Environments. He is associated with Indus University for more than half a decade occupying positions of administrative importance such as Administrative Officer and Joint Registrar before becoming Registrar Incharge since October 2013. Mr Maniar is also involved with coordination and liaison with other educational environments such as Gujarat Technological University and Department of Higher and Technical Education,Government of Gujarat.
